An ode to the warm and colorful days I spent growing up in South Texas, My Tejano Childhood is the product of my initial venture into digital surface design.
The collection consists of 20 digital swatches that aim to tell the story of what a year looks like in a Tejano household based on personal experiences. Referencing imagery from different seasons (such as eating pan dulce and tamales while playing Lotería during the holidays, or celebrating the San Antonio Fiesta with cascarones), the design process relied heavily on personal photographs in order to communicate these memories authentically.
*The term tejano/tejana refers to a Texas resident who is also of Mexican descent. Read more here.
